Welcome to The Wilderness Society Newcastle

About Us:

The Wilderness Society NSW started as one of the many environmental action groups which sprang up in the early 1980’s in response to the proposed dam on the Franklin River in Tasmania. The Newcastle group then forged ahead after this, campaigning for the protection of other important wilderness areas both locally and nationally.

Today we're leading the fight against coal seam gas exploration in the Pilliga Forest in North West NSW and the good thing is, we have a whole community of concerned locals behind us. Help us by joining the fight - any way you can.

Our Campaign Centre:

We are located at 'Pachamama House Community Hub' at 21 Gordon Avenue, Hamilton NSW 2303. Our office hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Drop by sometime for a chat or just to say hello! We are a friendly bunch.

Our People:

Naomi Crystal Hodgson - Campaign Manager
