The Wilderness Society Lutruwita/ Tasmania and Grassroots Action Network Tasmania invite you to our second Threatened Forest Open Day of the year!

Date: 11am-3pm, Saturday 13th of April

Location: On Styx rd, 10 mins from Maydena, 90 mins from Nipaluna/Hobart. Exact location here.

The day will include guided forest walks through a beautiful threatened forest with giant eucalypts and rainforest understory. There will also be live music, ecology activities, a panel discussion, and other fun stuff for all ages. BYO packed lunch, water, and suitable shoes/clothing. 

Limited free transport will be available from 130 Davey Street, Nipaluna/Hobart at 9am - please email [email protected] with number of seats by Friday 2pm. 

 

Event Schedule:

11am - Arrivals

11:30am - Guided walks commence. 

1:30pm - Panel discussion with: 

  • Senator Nick McKim - Incoming Forests Spokesperson for the Australian Greens
  • Dr Jen Sanger - Forest Ecologist with The Tree Projects
  • Alice Hardinge - Campaigns Manager at The Wilderness Society
  • Chris Sansom - Maydena Local 

2:15pm - Music in amongst the trees with the wonderful Tasha Zappala.

3pm - End of event and short walk to clearfell witness. 

 

This event will be held on stolen Palawa land. We acknowledge and pay our respects to the many generations of staunch warriors and activists whom have been fighting for Country since colonisation began. Sovereignty was never ceded.
