Shifting consumer choice is one of the most powerful acts individuals can take.

Come to this fun and information-filled evening where you will learn about The Wilderness Society's Ethical Paper campaign, through which we encourage businesses not to purchase Reflex office paper, until it is no longer sourced from Victoria's native forests.

You'll meet other volunteers, hear from some of the team about the work we do, and have the opportunity to get involved in 2017.

CONTEXT:
Our beautiful forests in Victoria continue to be logged at a rate of nearly 3, 500 hectares annually – that’s an area more than 4 times the size of the MCG every single day!

Logged forests are then mostly pulped for cheap paper products – including Reflex, the flagship brand of Japanese-owned paper company, Australian Paper.
Australian Paper is the largest buyer of wood from Victoria’s publicly-owned native forests.

It doesn’t make economic sense for the Victorian Government to subsidise the unprofitable logging of native forests for paper pulp. Instead of using our precious native forests, companies like Australian Paper should make use of existing plantations and recycled pulp for paper manufacturing.

The Ethical Paper Street Team:

Join our diverse team, with members all across the greater Melbourne area, working in teams to approach businesses about their paper choice and invite them to sign the pledge to use only ethically sourced paper. It's an effective and empowering way to educate the community and directly contribute to the campaign that will help protect our native forests from destruction.

So far, over 2200 businesses and organisations around Australia have signed the Ethical Paper Pledge, vowing not to purchase Reflex office paper until it is no longer sourced from our precious and vulnerable native forests.

We provide full training and support, ongoing training and coaching, and would love you to join the team this year. RSVP below to get involved!
