ABOUT

Over the past four years alone, over one million hectares has been cleared in Queensland alone—that’s an area the size of the Gabba Stadium being destroyed every three minutes.

Watch My Wilderness (WMW) is a civil science application initiative developed in order to track and record the clearing of bushland across Queensland. The applications format allows for a large number of individuals to complete a task that would take months of time for an individual.

Join the Watch my Wilderness team and help find deforestation hotspots in Queensland!

This training will be a comprehensive Watch my Wilderness app overview for key interested volunteers in Brisbane and remote volunteers online. A presentation will be delivered by campaign staff working in the campaign to end deforestation in Queensland. Learn how to:

  • Use the WMW application
  • Find hotspots for clearing and refer them to campaign staff
  • Analyse clearing under existing state and federal legislation.

The aim is to build a small team of committed volunteers willing to dedicate 1-2 hours a fortnight to search for clearing.
