Wilderness Society Campaigns Night
Join us for an inspiring evening where you’ll dive into the campaigns The Wilderness Society is working on to protect Australia’s unique forests, rivers, and wildlife. For over 40 years, we’ve fought to defend nature and have achieved incredible wins—but there’s still so much to do, and we need your support.
This campaigns night is your opportunity to learn about the key issues we’re tackling across the continent and how you can make a difference. Whether you’re an experienced supporter or just starting out, this is the perfect chance to connect with like-minded people and take meaningful action together.
What to expect:
- Explore the campaigns we’re leading across the continent
- Celebrate our recent wins and learn about what's next for our campaigns
- Discover practical ways to contribute to these efforts, from volunteering to taking local action in your community.

Tassie Forests Tour - New Norfolk
Tassie Forests Tour 2026
Tassie’s forests are currently walking a tightrope. Right now, policy reform is underway which could see a continuation of business-as-usual logging, or significant changes - possibly even an end to native forest logging. The outcome hinges on our collective response - join us at our upcoming Tassie Forests Tour to find out how to get involved!
The background:
Back in December, changes to Federal environment laws were announced, including an end to the longstanding exemption enjoyed by the logging industry. Then in May, it was announced that the Tasmanian State Government would pursue a ‘Bilateral Agreement’ to re-devolve approval and regulation powers back down to an industry-captured State government. In recent months, the state government has been working under a veil of secrecy to prepare their proposal to continue logging native forests.
In the coming months we will see the Federal and State Governments undertake public consultation periods as they work towards approving Tassie’s broken logging system. The Wilderness Society is strongly opposed to the Federal government’s ‘rubber stamping’ of ongoing logging and are already mobilising to ensure the best possible outcome for forests.
Get involved:
The Wilderness Society and our allies across the Tasmanian environment movement are already mobilising. This will begin with a series of town hall meetings across the island - St. Mary’s, Ulverstone, Launceston, Deloraine, Huon Valley, Dodges Ferry, New Norfolk, and Hobart.
For those who are eager to get started immediately, you can join our weekly campaign meeting in Launceston and Hobart, from 5:30pm on Wednesdays.
Speakers, follow up events and more updates will be coming soon - RSVP to stay in the loop!
This event will take place on the sovereign and unceded lands of the Palawa people, the rightful owners of Lutruwita/Tasmania.
Parking & Public Access: Wheelchair accessible. On-site parking is available. Public transport is available within walking distance of the venue (10 mins).

Cooks River (sydney) Team Meeting
COOKS RIVER WILDERNESS SOCIETY GROUP
We care, protect and conserve 🌿
We are a dedicated group of volunteers from all walks of life who engage with the local communities of the Cooks River and Inner West regions to give nature a voice and support the life that supports us.
We appreciate and value our natural environment, including our parks and rivers and unique Australian flora and fauna.
From the Cooks River to the waters of the City of Canada Bay, we meet on the lands of the Wangal people of the Eora Nation, to talk about what matters to us and organise activities that promote the conservation of nature and contribute to the Wilderness Society’s campaigns.
Our activities involve picnics, educational walks, stalls, film screenings, and meetings with our elected representatives.
One step at a time we take action to prevent environmental threats - doing what we can to give nature a voice.
If you would like to know more about our group before coming along to a meeting, please reach out to Jamie via [email protected] or 0439249311 or take a leap and join us at our next team meeting or event!

Please RSVP so we have an idea on numbers. All are welcome, so please share with your networks and invite friends and family.
