ABOUT

This year, Woolworths quietly walked back on its deforestation commitment. The big supermarket continues to use a dodgy certification for its timber, and has downplayed beef as a “low-risk” commodity.

Meanwhile, special forests in NSW continue to be logged to make timber pallets used by companies like Woolworths, and land clearing for beef production in Queensland runs rampant.

At the upcoming Woolworths Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 30 October, the Wilderness Society will be pressuring key Woolworths executives to clean up its beef and timber supply chains.

It’s critical that Woolworths sees that Aussies care about forests and wildlife, and that we don’t want our groceries to come at the cost of nature destruction! That’s why Wilderness Society volunteers are taking action at stores across the country in the week leading up to the AGM.

We need to send a clear message to Woolworths: no backsliding! go deforestation-free now! Forests and wildlife can’t wait any longer.

To be part of this critical campaign moment, sign up here for the Blue Mountains action at 10am on Friday 24th October
