The Wilderness Society Invites You to our Welcome Night and BWS 1st birthday celebration!
The Wilderness Society has an ever expanding network of passionate team leaders, community organisers, and enthusiastic volunteers! For the past 40+ years we have advocated on behalf of the environment, and have had some incredible campaign wins along the way.
Here in Wynnum, we launched our Bayside team about 12 months ago, and they have become a great example of what connected communities can be capable of when they stand together supported by one of the most significant environmental organisations in Australia.
In just over a year the team has achieved a great deal including meeting with local State and Federal Government representatives, assisting with the campaign to protect Toondah Harbor, contributing to significantly reducing the clearing of koala habitat from the expansion of the Belmore Shooting Complex, driving the Wilderness Society's Federal Election campaign in Bonner, participating in a Moreton Bay clean up day, connecting with local community groups, hosting 2 film screenings, and having hundreds of conversations with local residents.
This night will be a way for you to find out how you can be a part of this progressive movement. It is your opportunity to learn about our innovative, new organising program. You will also meet your fellow community members and connect on shared values and passions!
There will be food and drinks provided. Feel free to invite friends and family! Just remember to RSVP first. We look forward to seeing you March 18th at 6pm at the Art Gallery Space at Wynnum Community Centre!
