ABOUT
As Coles prepares for its biggest corporate event of the year, we’re calling on Coles to go deforestation-free.
Join The Wilderness Society, along with Greenpeace and ACF for a fun snap action outside their Annual General Meeting (AGM) asking them to fix their deforestation problem
Everyday, homes for koalas and swift parrots are bulldozed and chainsawed to produce some of the groceries that end up at our supermarkets–from beef steaks, to the pallets our groceries are transported on and the packaging they’re sold in.
For instance, beef is a key driver of deforestation and Coles is one of the biggest buyers of Australian beef. Coles continues to profit while nature and climate-sustaining forests and bushland are being destroyed.
Wilderness Society, ACF, Greenpeace are working together to put maximum pressure on Coles through community power at this crucial moment.
Here’s what you can expect from coming “down, down” to the Coles AGM snap action:
- Great speakers explaining what’s at “steak” for forests and wildlife.
- Fun chants. Coles loves a jingle, so we have a few in store.
- Colourful banners, props and placards. We’ll bring some to share around, or get creative and make your own!
- A friendly vibe, sharing time with like-minded people who care about forests, the bush and wildlife.
Selling only deforestation-free products–like beef and packaging–would support the suppliers and producers who are sustainably managing forests and bushland. We should all be able to do our grocery shopping without worrying that our everyday products are contributing to extinctions.
Coles has the power to help stop the destruction. Join us for a snap action outside Coles’ AGM and let’s say it loud and clear together for our forests, wildlife and future!
