We’re excited to invite our volunteers, members of our neighbourhood collectives or those interested in joining to undertake our Fundamentals of Community Organising Training.
Our community organising program is all about immersing yourself in an incredible learning and development experience so that collectively we can better protect, promote and restore Wilderness across Australia.
This two day introductory course will give you experience and skills in:
- The theory and frameworks of community organising
- Relational organising skills
- Leadership and facilitation
- Communications for change (telling your personal narrative)
- Campaign planning
- Activating your local community
- Building grassroots teams & volunteer management
This program is available for anyone currently volunteering (or interested in volunteering) with the Wilderness Society in Perth; including members of our neighbourhood collective teams.
Catering will be provided on both days.
Please ensure you let us know via email if you have any dietary requirements, mobility needs or anything else you think we need to take into consideration.
Is this training right for me?
We’re looking to transform the ways in which society connects and respects our natural environment and we’re looking for like-minded people to join us. Sound like you?
This program is a huge first step in discovering what we can do collectively. It’ll equip you with the skills, know-how, mentoring and connections you need to have an impact in your local community.
What is expected of me?
This program is offered to those currently volunteering (or are seeking to volunteer) free of charge. In return we expect participants to volunteer either through our campaign centre or become a part of your neighbourhood collective for a period of at least 3 months.
Volunteering in this capacity usually requires a weekly commitment of 4 - 8 hours depending on the project that you choose to undertake.
For more information on what it means to volunteer with us please do not hesitate to contact us on 9420 72 55 or email [email protected]
Places are strictly limited to 15 participants, please RSVP as soon as you are able to secure your spot.
