ABOUT

Join us for three weeks all-things art and activism, at the "Day of the Species"  Exhibition Event Series!

Curated by designer/educator Carmel Killin, the Day of the Species project started life at a kitchen table in the suburbs of Melbourne in 2019. After its debut exhibition between pandemic lock downs in September 2020 to honour national Threatened Species Day, it soon became apparent this gathering of ever-increasing species needed greater exposure.

The 2024 edition, in partnership with the Wilderness Society, will include a range of community events and activities, to deepen engagement, learning and action for threatened species. Click on the event below for more details and to RSVP!

Not just another nature art show, Day of the Species is a comprehensive, artistic documentation of Australia's entire list of threatened plants and animals. There are currently 2,003 species on the EPBC Act list. Each one is represented as a tiny unique artwork - about half the size of a credit card— hand drawn onto packaging by over 280 professional and amateur artists from around Australia, plus a few that have made the journey from the UK and Germany.
