ABOUT
You are invited to join us to celebrate a big win for Lake Malbena.

On Wednesday, 16 September, the Full Court of Tasmania’s Supreme Court delivered an important ruling where they overturned a decision to grant a planning permit for Wild Drake’s controversial helicopter-accessed tourism development at Lake Malbena in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

This is a significant legal victory for the long-running campaign to protect Halls Island, on Lake Malbena—part of the world’s highest-rated World Heritage wilderness. This outcome couldn’t have happened without the critical support of people like you who have put in the time, support, and effort for this campaign to keep moving forward.

Please take a moment to savour this win for wilderness and come to join us to celebrate this important victory.

We would also like to say a big thank you to some of the groups and individuals who helped with this victory. They include our barristers, the amazing lawyers at Environmental Defenders Office Hobart, Fishers and Walkers Tasmania, the Tasmanian National Parks Association, Richard Webb and Paul Smith.

We would also like to thank and acknowledge the Aboriginal community of lutruwita (Tasmania), the palawa-pakana people, and reiterate our support for land justice and the need for land returns to its rightful owners.

Will you come?
