We are excited to offer our new Community Organising "Movement 4 Life" 2 day training course to Wilderness Society volunteers and supporters.  Saturday, September 10th, 9.00am to 5.00pm and Sunday, September 11th, 9.00am to 3.00pm at the Launceston Environment Centre, 72 Tamar St, Launceston.

When was the last time you did something bold and different in the pursuit of personal and community engagement and learning?  Do you care about our island home, its natural beauty and our climate?  Do you want protection for the places you love?  Do you yearn to be more effective in this space?  Yes?

Then this is for you!  Our community organising program "Movement 4 Life" is all about immersing yourself in an incredible learning and development experience so that collectively we can better protect, promote and restore natural and wild places across Tasmania and Australia.

This two day introductory course will give you experience and skills in:

  • The theory and frameworks of community organising
  • Relational organising skills
  • Communications for change (telling your personal narrative)
  • Campaign planning
  • Activating your local community
  • Building grassroots teams & volunteer management

This program is available for anyone currently volunteering (or interested in volunteering) with the Wilderness Society Tas.

Catering will be provided on both days.

Please ensure you let us know via email if you have any dietary requirements, mobility needs or anything else you think we need to take into consideration.

Is this training right for me?

We’re looking to transform the ways in which society connects and respects our natural environment and we’re looking for like-minded people to join us.

This program is a first step in discovering what we can do collectively. It’ll equip you with the skills, know-how, mentoring and connections you need to have an impact in your local community.

What is expected of me?

This program is offered to those currently volunteering (or are seeking to volunteer) free of charge. Please bring your enthusiasm, ideas, an open mind, an open heart and your passion for the power of people to make change.

For more information on what it means to volunteer with us please do not hesitate to contact us on 0400 957 994 or email

Places are strictly limited so please RSVP as soon as you are able to secure your spot.
