ABOUT

Looking for an engaging free evening with your friends?

Keen to connect with others who care about protecting nature?

We are hosting a community forum to discuss an important issue and opportunity to get strong nature laws that work. You will hear from expert speakers from The Wilderness Society, Queensland Conservation Council and more. We also have our federal MP Graham Perrett attending and you will have an opportunity to ask questions and have your say. You’ll also learn more about how the Wilderness Society’s Brisbane Southern Suburbs group is campaigning for the protection of places you love - unique species and ecosystems that are iconic and that sustain life.

Right now, the Australian government is reforming our broken nature law.

Currently, their proposals are riddled with loopholes and won’t actually stop deforestation and extinctions.
The government has an urgent, once-in-a-generation opportunity to step up and pass nature laws that work.

That means:

  • Stopping deforestation
  • Ending the extinction crisis; and
  • A fair say for communities, not just corporations.

Will you join our forum to learn more about why decision makers in the Southern Suburbs are crucial for showing the government that Australians want and expect effective nature laws?

As a local community, we have a particularly important role to play at this moment.

Our Federal Member of Parliament, Graham Perrett, has the potential to be a champion for nature protection and community rights  as the legislative reforms are being considered. If we demonstrate that we care about nature laws that actually protect forests, stop extinctions and ensure a fair say for communities, Graham will know this issue matters to his constituents and community. He will understand that passing mediocre laws, or failing to pass the laws nature needs, is too risky for the governmentBy calling on Mr Perrett to raise our shared concerns, and combined with other MPs we are engaging around Australiawe can influence the outcome of this once-in-a-generation reform process.

Join us for a fun night of collective action to help send this much needed message to our elected representative.

See you there!
