ABOUT

Under the canopy of curiosity, let's explore the wilderness of knowledge together.

Join us for our free trivia night, whether with friends, colleagues, or as an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals.

This isn’t a traditional trivia night. Tease your brain with fun questions about Australian plants, animals, Sydney trivia, and the state of nature in Australia. You’ll also learn more about how the Wilderness Society’s Sydney East group is campaigning for the protection of places you love - unique species and ecosystems that are iconic and that sustain life.

Right now, the Australian government is reforming our broken nature law.

Currently, their proposals are riddled with loopholes and won’t actually stop deforestation and extinctions.
The government has an urgent, once-in-a-generation opportunity to step up and pass nature laws that work.

That means:

  • Stopping deforestation
  • Ending the extinction crisis; and
  • A fair say for communities, not just corporations.

Will you join our trivia night to have fun and learn more about why decision makers in the Eastern Suburbs are crucial for showing the government that Australians want and expect effective nature laws?

RSVP in the top right of the page. There will be an opportunity to form teams during the event. If you choose to join as a team, please ensure each member signs up individually.

As a local community, we have a particularly important role to play at this moment.

Our Federal Member of Parliament, Matt Thistlethwaite, is one of six we have identified as particularly important to engage as the legislative reforms are being considered. If we demonstrate that we care about nature laws that actually protect forests and stop extinctions, Matt will know this issue matters to his constituents and community. He will understand that passing mediocre laws, or failing to pass the laws nature needs, is too risky for him. He will then raise our shared concerns, and combined with the other five MPs we are targeting, will influence the outcome of this reform process.

Join us for a fun night of trivia and collective action to help send this much needed message to our elected representative.

See you there!
