The Wilderness Society and allies are coming together in Burwood to share and listen to stories from community members and local groups around why we care about protecting nature.
We’ll send a clear message to decision makers: our community cares deeply about the environment and we will hold leaders accountable.
Nature can’t wait another election cycle.
In NSW, some of the most biodiverse forests on the planet are being logged. Native forest logging is driving wildlife extinctions, increasing bushfire risk, destroying First Nations cultural heritage and releasing huge amounts of carbon. Logging in these native forests is not required to be assessed under federal nature laws, which is why federal nature law reforms must close deforestation loopholes. Critical habitat for koalas and greater gliders are being logged in NSW right now, and this is driving them to extinction.
Extinction is not an option.

WHEN: Sunday 10 August, 3-5pm
WHERE: The Fitzroy Hall/Centre (22 Church St, Burwood, NSW 2134, Australia, Google map and directions)
WHAT: This will be a 'Community Conversations' or 'Table Talks' event.
What are community conversations / table talks?
Community conversations, or table talks, are meetings where people break off into small groups (4-6) and discuss their experiences and stories in relation to an issue or topic.
The focus of the event will be on listening to stories from individuals and groups around why we care about protecting nature. It’s an opportunity for our community to come together, learn more about each other, and learn more about what local groups in the Inner West are doing to advocate for nature.
Join us at the Fitzroy Centre in Burwood to show decision makers that nature matters.
Bring a friend. Bring your voice. This is where momentum builds.

This event is a collaboration between The Wilderness Society and allies. Together we strive for stronger protections for our living world that makes all life possible.
