You are invited to attend this information evening to learn about the crucial issues of deforestation and habitat loss in QLD, and what is at stake as we face a crossroads exacerbated by this year's bushfires, COVID recovery planning, and a looming QLD election. You will also learn about how together we can ensure that together we build a brighter and fairer future for our forests and species like the koala who call them home.
Between 2013 and 2018, over 1.6 million hectares of forest and bushland was cleared in Queensland. That’s an area the size of the GABBA stadium bulldozed every 3 minutes. In 2015-2016 alone, it is estimated that over 44 million animals were killed in QLD by the bulldozing - around one native animal every second.
Recently we saw a positive change. People across QLD united and together we demanded a better future...and we got it. Our vitally important Vegetation Management Act was re introduced, and once again our forests had a safety net from what had become an out of control crisis. Not only did we win, but we had a great time doing so. Volunteers like Annie below rated their experience in the campaign an average 8.6 out of 10!

Brisbane volunteer Annie O'Moon
"We need to address the nature laws because they underpin the dysfunction of the Government in being able to protect effortlessly and seamlessly the forests, the fauna and flora, the watercourses, oceans and reefs."
With a QLD election looming we will continue our work on this campaign and ensure all sides of politics know that Queenslanders value their forests and bushland.
Join us at this event, which is an important milestone in a journey towards a state where icons like the koala are respected not displaced, and our forests are valued not decimated.
