RSVP to the webinar: Latest updates on nature law reform

Join us for a special online briefing — Monday, 1 December at 6 PM

This week marks the final federal Parliamentary sitting for the year — and the future of nature is a hot topic!

After decades of public pressure to update Australia’s ailing nature laws, the Albanese government has made a deal with the Greens to amend the laws.

Since the Albanese government took office, a shocking one million hectares of forests and bushland in Queensland alone has been destroyed.

And now Federal Environment Minister Murray Watt is set to pass new nature laws that will for the first time require unchecked forest and bushland destruction to be scrutinised by the Federal government.

Loopholes that once were big enough for the bulldozers to drive through will now be closed to ensure high risk land clearing cannot continue unassessed by the Australian government—this gives koalas and greater gliders a lifeline.

We’re joining the Queensland Conservation Council, Australian Conservation Foundation, Australian Marine Conservation Society and the Cairns and Far North Environment Centre and our community to unpack what it all means.
