ABOUT

The Wilderness Society Mangrove Planting Event!

Join us along the Brisbane River in West End to plant mangroves in efforts to clear our brown river. Local coastal engineer, Jesper Nielsen, will explain how plants can stabilise the mudbanks to help the river clear itself while improving the overall health of the river. Jesper will lead volunteers along the banks showing everyone how to plant River Mangroves amongst the rocks and how to raise Grey Mangrove seedlings into the pots for future plantings.

We will be planting the trees at this time due to convenient low tides but do advise you to dress into something that you won't mind getting wet and dirty! There will be snacks and drinks after the planting event for some picnic action, and the event is expected to take approximately 3 hours.

Come join us with your family and friends in making the river a healthier environment for all members of our community! Be a mains-tree-mer and make shore to bring your green thumbs for the planting event of the SEASON.
