ABOUT

Join the Bayside Wilderness Society group for a relaxed day out in nature on Minjerribah, North Stradbroke Island. This is a chance to slow down, enjoy one of South East Queensland's most beautiful coastal walks, and connect with others who care deeply about protecting forests, bushland and wildlife.

We'll travel together on the 9 am ferry from Cleveland to North Stradbroke Island before walking the spectacular North Gorge Walk. August is one of the best times of year to see migrating humpback whales, so we'll take our time at the lookout points with the hope of spotting whales as they make their annual journey along the Queensland coast. We may also be lucky enough to see dolphins, turtles and other coastal wildlife.

After the walk, we'll enjoy a relaxed lunch together at a local café before heading back to the ferry.

This day is about getting out into nature, building community, and sharing conversations about the work we're doing to protect forests, bushland and wildlife.

What to expect

  • A scenic coastal walk through one of Queensland's most iconic natural areas.
  • The chance to spot migrating humpback whales, as well as dolphins, turtles and coastal birdlife.
  • Time outdoors with like minded people who care about nature.
  • Informal conversations about Wilderness Society campaigns and ways to get involved.
  • A relaxed lunch together at a local café after the walk.
