Oil and gas giants are eyeing off the Channel Country rivers and floodplains for dangerous fossil fuels.
Since 2015, the Queensland government has been promising to protect the Channel Country rivers and floodplains but while they stall, large fossil fuel companies are eyeing off the floodplains for new oil and gas developments against communities’ wishes.
Local communities, Traditional Owners, scientists, pastoralists and environmentalists have been calling for the protection of the Channel Country rivers and floodplains for decades.
Together, we’re calling on the government to protect the globally significant Channel Country rivers and floodplains for people and nature.
Join us at 10am on Wednesday 22nd February as we rally outside Queensland Parliament to call on the Palaszczuk Government to protect the Channel Country rivers and floodplains once and for all.
