ABOUT

G'day

It’s phase 2 of our anti deforestation campaign! Now that we have some protections for the wilderness back in law, it’s time to undo the damage.

Oxley Creek in Brisbane’s south has been a dumping ground for industrial waste for over a century. In recent years groups including the Oxley Creek Catchment Association have taken responsibility for cleaning up and restoring the creek to its natural beauty.

On Saturday September 22nd the Wilderness Society Southern Suburbs team is joining OCCA in a cleanup and restoration day in the Oxley Creek Commons, one of the most visible and accessible areas of the catchment.

WHAT TO BRING

Water, sunscreen, tough clothing (including hat), snacks and plenty of energy! It will be a cooler part of the year but the sun will still be shining.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We’ll be doing a variety of things including tree planting, weeding, checking water or soil quality and taking seed samples. There will be a few activities that require our help.
