Communities working together to Unite the Bight
At this moment, our coastlines are under threat from Big Oil companies planning to drill in the pristine Great Australian Bight.
Risky deep sea drilling could mean a devastating oil spill, but will also mean increased marine traffic - all putting our wildlife, tourism, fisheries and recreation at risk. Also, opening up a new fossil fuel basin in the Bight will make climate change impacts much worse.
Unite the Bight is bringing together our vibrant coastal communities - whole regions that live off the ocean. People who respect and know that our environment needs to remain clean and healthy so that we can continue to thrive.
In this workshop we will explore next steps in protecting our coasts and oceans from Big Oil, including:
