ABOUT

Join us for a doco, pizza and chatz about the campaign to protect the Great Australian Bight and what we can do.

The Wilderness Society has stood at the forefront of Australia’s most historic environmental victories, but our biggest challenges lie in front of us.

Operation Jeedara is the story of the fight to protect the Great Australian Bight from risky oil and gas drilling. A showcase of the immense beauty of our coasts and ocean that make up this incredible region. Recently the Sea Shepherd boat, the Steve Irwin, returned to the Bight with some scientists to check out how the marine sanctuaries were going. They captured some stunning underwater imagery.  We will show a short version of each film.

These two documentaries are particularly important to South Australia. Our unique and pristine environment, productive fisheries, world class tourism and way of life, are all at immense risk, if there were to be an oil spill in the Great Australian Bight.

Following the screening, we’ll explore the how locals can get involved in protecting the Bight as well as chat over local environmental issues that we could work together to solve.
