ABOUT

The Mt Coot-tha we all know and love is threatened by privatisation, and the construction of a tourism precinct, which all starts off with a proposed mega zipline. Together we can save our beautiful mountain!
Join us at Speakers Corner at 10 am to learn more about this project and to send a message to our decision makers. At 10:30 we will go down to the Botanic Gardens (City) for a picnic in the park together as a collective and concerned community.
Why we are concerned?
This development will:
- Destroy the habitat of vulnerable species including the Powerful Owl
- Involve extensive clearing of old growth forests
- Involve the construction of extensive infrastructure
- Impact our scenic skyline
- Cause noise 7 days a week until late at night
- Be exclusionary for the local community with forecast high costs for a short ride
- Increase traffic congestion and decrease safety
- Significantly impact the Botanic Gardens
Despite all of this, there are those that want to see this project go ahead. It is up to us to come together as a community and tell our decision makers we don't want this to go ahead.
What can you do?
- Come to our event and bring your friends. If you would like copies of our flyer to distribute just contact us and we will be happy to provide.
- Contact Minister Lynham and let him know that Mt Coot-tha belongs to all of us, and its protection as a community reserve must be upheld
