About the Pilliga:
The Pilliga spans over half a million acres. It's famous for grand landscapes and delicate beauties – including a diversity of wildflowers. Ancient Gamilaraay rock art and sacred sandstone outcrops punctuate its rolling woodlands.
One of 15 biodiversity hotspots in Australia, it is a mecca for birdwatchers. Its sandstone layers and ephemeral rivers filter pristine water for the Great Artesian Basin below. It’s hot bore country, a gateway to Outback Australia and its starry sky above is beyond compare.
This trip will be a time for immersing yourself, listening and learning about the region, its people and what is at stake. It will also be a chance to connect to the movement that has held back coal seam gas for years and finding out how you can help protect the Pilliga for good.
Together we will explore beautiful sites and meet passionate protectors. We hope you will join us in creating a better future for the Pilliga.
