It’s time to protect special forests in NSW
Right now, an end to native forest logging is on the agenda as part of a review that could decide the future of forestry in NSW.
This review is an important chance for you to let the NSW government know you don’t approve of it spending millions of taxpayer dollars each year to prop up this loss-making industry.
Native forest logging drives wildlife extinctions, increases bushfire risk, destroys First Nations cultural heritage and releases huge amounts of carbon.
The review comes as pressure builds to protect NSW’s special forests from logging, following recent industry transitions in Victoria and Western Australia.
The Minns government is weighing up some big decisions, including: does transitioning away from native forest logging present more political pros or cons?
Corporations that turn critical habitat into low-value products like woodchips will make sure their views are heard. Together, we can counter the vested interests with a huge wave of submissions speaking up for forest protection.
The Wilderness Society will be hosting an online action workshop on Wednesday October 9, where you can craft your submission alongside other passionate people and ask any questions you have about the process.
If you care about protecting NSW forests, this is your opportunity to make a difference and take action before submissions close October 13.
We will see you there!
