Election campaigning is a legitimate and effective way of furthering our TWS policy agenda. You will hear from Glenn Walker our National Climate Campaign Manager and a key member of the Deforestation Campaign team during the 2017 Queensland election.
Glenn will share his experiences of working on 6 elections and provide local organising teams with sound advice about what groups can and can't do during election periods.
Objectives
- Learn about the role of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) as they relate to TWS.
- Provide an overview of TWS's rights and responsibilities as a registered charity before and during election periods.
- Present participants with a range of practical examples of dos and don'ts related to what local action groups can and can't do during an election period.
- Provide participants with an understanding of TWS internal approval processes.
- Give participants a safe space in which to ask questions about their role during election periods.
