We’re the Wilderness Society Homebush Action Group and we represent nature lovers across Homebush, Canada Bay, Strathfield, Burwood and Ashfield by taking action to protect nature and join forces with other local groups
Australia’s natural world is facing unprecedented threats: we’re in the midst of drought, deforestation is through the roof, our native animals are being pushed towards extinction and our recycling is overflowing into landfill. In our local area, we’re witnessing first hand the impacts of overdevelopment on traffic congestion, loss of heritage buildings, shrinking green space and increasing pollution. Our nature laws aren’t up to scratch and failing to protect local communities and the places we love.
We have a chance to call for stronger, effective nature laws with teeth to protect our water, climate, forests and animals with the upcoming review of our national environment law, the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 set for later this year.
You’re invited to come along, meet your local Wilderness Society action group, connect with like-minded folks in your local community, and learn about the failing environment laws and our solution to this crisis - nature laws that work.
