You’re invited to a free Effective Meetings With Your MP workshop to be held in Chatswood on Thursday night 1 June 2017.
At the Wilderness Society we believe that it is important for a community to be better equipped to engage in the political process and have strong relationships with their local decision makers. We are therefore very excited to invite you to attend our free one-off training workshop: How to Effectively Meet With Your MP.
Meeting with your local member of parliament (MP) can be a great way to engage them in a particular issue. It is also a great way to establish, build and maintain a relationship. MPs need to know the “mood” of their community and you can be a valuable asset to them, just as they can become a valuable asset to you. Having an established relationship with your MP is really helpful when an issue arises that you and your local community feel particularly passionate about.
In this two-hour workshop you will join other members of your community to learn how to have meetings with your MP that actually make a difference.
We will cover everything from how to secure a meeting, how to prepare, what to take with you, what to say in the meeting and, following the meeting, how to have a productive debrief and follow up on commitments made.
We invite all North Shore residents, and those in surrounding suburbs, to come along and take advantage of this free workshop, which will equip you with all that you need to successfully engage your MP. You do not need to be a member or supporter of the Wilderness Society to attend.
