Join us for a submission writing party to help stop the Narrabri CSG Project.

What: Wilderness Society Sydney North Group is running a workshop to assist you to write a submission on the Santos Narrabri Gas Project.
When: 6:00pm-7:00pm Monday 20 July 2020
Where: Zoom Online Meeting
Who: Diana Pryde, Garth Newton & you!
The NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment has completed a whole-of-government assessment of the the Narrabri Gas Project and has referred the project to the Independent Planning Commission (IPC) for determination. This is the final step in the state planning process where the IPC will either approve or reject the Santos proposal to drill 850 coal seam gas (CSG) wells in the precious Pilliga Forest and straight through a recharge zone of the Great Artesian Basin.
Consequently, the IPC has commenced a public consultation on the Narrabri Gas Project that will conclude on Friday 31 July 2020.
A number of environmental organisations, including The Wilderness Society, Lock The Gate and the Knitting Nannas have been campaigning against the project for almost ten years, supported by ninety-seven percent of the local community in the Narrabri-Coonabarabran area. Thousands of Australians have already voiced their concerns about this project through a record breaking 22,700 formal objections to the public consultation associated with the project's Environmental Impact Statement in 2017.
Together we can let the IPC know that opposition to this project has not declined, but is growing. By exceeding the 2017 record number of submissions, we will demonstrate that Australians want to:
- keep CSG in the ground,
- create a future of clean and abundant renewable energy,
- support local farming and Aboriginal communities, and
- protect the places we love.
This is a crucial moment in this nationally-significant campaign - you can play a part by stepping up for nature and a better climate outcome. With your support and action, we can show the IPC and the NSW Government that Australians do not want a future based on fossil fuels and development at the cost of our unique native animals and plants.
Together we can stop the Narrabri Gas Project.
Join us for one hour from 6:00pm on Monday 20 July where we will assist you to put in a personalised written submission to the IPC using the Wilderness Society's Pilliga campaign submission web page.
