ABOUT

Let’s Talk About the Cook’s River

It has been flowing for thousands of years

It has been a source of life for many traditional custodians, home to many species of flora and fauna.

But the River has changed

It is now a refuge for lovers of nature

a go to place for cyclists, walkers and runners

where families sometimes gather to enjoy a picnic

But it’s not the old River.

This community initiative actioned by the Movement For Life Homebush Group will focus on the health of our cherished Cooks River, the local wildlife and the different groups collaborating to rehabilitate the River.

Gather online with your fellow nature loving Homebush community members in appreciation for the Cooks River. This is an open event to our community, so bring a friend, a neighbour, a colleague or anyone you know that loves our natural world.

Keynote Speaker: Thomas Sinclair, Acting Executive Officer, Cooks River Alliance.

Thomas will focus on the alliance of Councils collaborating to rehabilitate the River, the health of the river, current projects and what needs to be done moving forward.

Keynote Speaker: Peter Munro, former President of the Cooks River Valley Association, will share his knowledge of the flora/fauna and talk about the community groups involved in protecting the wildlife with a focus on the bush regeneration projects currently underway.

Featuring on the program: Ron Ragel & Vicki Hansen (IndiaJiva Musicians/Band) Yia Alias (Installation & Collage Artist) Murray Kyle (Songwriter) Maria Lambi (Photography Enthusiast).  Ron, Vicki, Yia, Murray and Maria will give a personal perspective on their connection to land, the waters, and how nature inspires them in their artistic expression.

We will keep you posted on how you can collaborate to protect the Cooks River and much more.
