Can we have a conversation that helps us meet each other more, support each other in facing disturbing world events, and nourish our capacity to play our part in responding with active hope? Can we have this conversation with others, and with ourselves?

Whether you identify with being an 'activist' or not, many of us advocating for change understand the large toll this work can take. In this second Wilderness Society Mental Health for Activists Workshop, we’ll be facilitating an active hope circle.
Active Hope is a practice we can apply to any situation. It is a process of coming from gratitude, honouring our pain for the world, seeing with new eyes and going forth. We are all engaged with activism because we feel similarly about the issues facing the environment and systems we live in. This is a process of acknowledging those feelings, finding hope in the solutions we seek and using that hope to take action.
This approach is inspired by the work of Joanna Macy & Chris Johnstone. You can learn more about their work and take an online training on the Active Hope website.
This session is part of our weekly 'Sessions for Wilderness'. Join us on Wednesdays for campaign meetings, workshops and organising!

This event will take place on the sovereign and unceded lands of the Palawa people, the rightful owners of Lutruwita / Tasmania.
Parking & Public Access: Street-parking is available although it is often full. Public transport is available and within 100 metres of the venue. The session will be held in the front room of the venue, which is wheelchair accessible.
