Join us for the Launceston screening of this Tasmanian cult classic, filmed through the winter in the Walls of Jerusalem National Park. The Tale of Ruby Rose is Tasmanian director Roger Scholes first feature film and went on to win four awards at the 1987 Venice Biennale Film Festival before being released in Australia to critical acclaim.
In 1988 the Wilderness Society toured The Tale of Ruby Rose to town halls and local theatres around Tasmania to talk wilderness and showcase the incredible landscapes of what is now Tasmania's iconic Wilderness World Heritage Area.
30 years later, view an impressive digitally remastered screening and update on the modern-day threat to wilderness and the current plans for luxury private commercial huyts and helicopter access in the Walls of Jerusalem.
Watch the film and hear from Vica Bayley, campaign manager of the Wilderness Society in Tasmania.
Entry by donation on the night. Join us for a cup of warm soup, a campaign update and classic Tasmanian film.
RSVP essential.
