ABOUT

Join us for a special Slides & Stories with wilderness photographer Grant Dixon, who recently made three epic long trips - totaling some 50 days - out in the incredible Spero-Wanderer Wilderness of Lutruwita / Tasmania. Re-live his adventures into the wild and rugged south-west wilderness on Wednesday June 12, 6pm, at St. John Craft Beer Bar, Launceston.

The Spero-Wanderer Wilderness is a unique and incredible region located in the highly remote south-western portion of the island, south of Macquarie Harbour. This beautiful, wild and rugged place is home to some of the most vast and isolated landscapes outside the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Extensive buttongrass plains, lush rainforests alongside tannin rich and free-flowing rivers, coastlines with extraordinary diverse geology, and mountain peaks of gorgeous alpine flora. The ‘Spero-Wanderer’ has it all.

Areas adjacent to this spectacular area have been listed as World Heritage for their beaches, headlands, cliffs, islets, coves, lagoons and estuaries. Despite these incredible natural values, mining exploration drilling and licences cover most of the Spero-Wanderer.

Grant has produced some incredible photographs and stories from these recent forays into the wilderness. So reserve your seat, enjoy a beverage and a meal, and come along on June 12, 6pm @ St. John Craft Beer, to a night of ‘Slides and Stories’ of Grant’s amazing adventures into this rugged and remote wilderness.
