ABOUT

Join us in Trevallyn for our family-friendly trivia event! It’s time to go out on a limb, and test your tree-via skills with our nature-themed trivia night. Bring a table of fronds, or branch out and meet new people! You will also learn more about how The Wilderness Society Tasmania is campaigning to help protect our iconic forests and wilderness of Lutruwita/Tasmania and the unique species that depend on them.

We have some fabulous prizes up for grabs and we will also be drawing our Wilderness Society Tasmania's fundraising raffle on the night.

As well as trivia and winning some great prizes, this is also a chance to learn about The Wilderness Society's exciting new legal case against successive Federal Environment Ministers.

The federal government has a legal and moral duty to protect Australia's threatened species. We say the law is clear – it’s the environment minister’s job to make Recovery Plans for threatened species that need them. But hundreds of Australia’s most threatened plants, animals and ecosystems simply don’t have Recovery Plans. Over many years, successive environment ministers have failed to make them – or let them expire.

A brown, grey and white watercolour image of a majestic and strong-looking Tasmanian Wedge-Tailed Eagle perched atop a rock on a white and grey background. Painted by Palawa watercolour artist Rod Gardner. In green at the top of the image, reads "Extinction is a choice" with a fork in the road and an arrow pointing up. In the top right hand corner is the Wilderness Society logo, a flowing "W" taken from a bend in the Franklin River.

We're going to court to give threatened wildlife like the endangered Tasmanian Wedge-Tailed Eagle a better chance at survival.

You will hear from our Tasmanian Campaign Manager, Alice Hardinge, our Office and Outreach Coordinator, Lenny Griffith, and new Community Organiser, Nat Harding about how you can get involved.

There will also be a colouring-in competition for kids U12.

Nibbles and light refreshments will be provided.
