ABOUT
TWS Tas/Lutruwita and GRANT invite you to our seventh Threatened Forest Open Day of the year!

Join us on Sunday 15 December for a day in the forests of the Styx Valley, on 'Risbys Ridge'. We will visit giant trees, fern glades, and see beautiful old sassafras and myrtle. Exact meeting location for parking - https://maps.app.goo.gl/sbJDBvhQcyv3k97k9 (-42.795117, 146.578337).

From the meeting location, it is a 15 minute walk up hill to the event hub - which is located here : https://maps.app.goo.gl/DCpHppMqCHTMTkLq7 (-42.790853, 146.584265). We will also have a 4WD to shuttle anyone who may not be able to walk the hill.

As always, the day will include guided forest walks through an imminently threatened forest. There is a shorter walk, that stays on the flat and is about 500m. There is also a longer walk, which includes a visit down into a rainforest gully. While we have endeavoured to make the track as accessible as we can - it is important to note that this is still a makeshift track through a forest. There is uneven footing, roots, and when wet it can be slippery. We advise people who are unsteady walking to bring hiking poles.

There will also be a panel discussion, live music, and ecology activities. BYO packed lunch, water, and suitable shoes/clothing/equipment.
