UPDATE 3/9/2024: Due to weather this event is delayed until the Sunday 29 September. We hope that you will be able to join us in three weeks.
-------
TWS Tas/Lutruwita and GRANT invite you to our fifth Threatened Forest Open Day of the year!
Date: 11am-3pm, Sunday 29 September (new date!)
Location: Styx Valley, 20 mins from Maydena, 100 mins from Nipaluna/Hobart. Exact Location released week of event.
Please RSPV here to stay up to date.

Join us on Sunday 29 September (new date) for what we expect to be our last open day in 'A Moss Experience' forest - coupe TN050G in the Styx Valley.

Thus far, nearly 300 people have joined us in this special forest including Pakana Plangermairreener Elder Uncle Jim Everett - puralia meenamatta, locals, forest and climate campaigners, and more. Through surveys we have found four giants eucalypts, over 50 large trees, and countless rare and endangered species. As a forest, we recognise it is a unique 300 year-old ecosystem - it has a right to remain.

Despite all of this, we expect that Forestry Tasmania will soon start logging operations. We invite you to join us at this final public event before logging may begin.

As always, the day will include guided forest walks through an imminently threatened rainforest with moss like you've never seen it before, including a track extension to giant trees. There will also be live music, ecology activities, and a panel discussion . BYO packed lunch, water, and suitable shoes/clothing/equipment. Speakers and music to be announced soon.

Limited free transport will be available from 130 Davey Street, Nipaluna/Hobart - please email [email protected] for more details.
Schedule:
11am - Arrivals
11:30am - Walks start
1pm - Panel discussion in forest
1:45pm - Music in forest
2:30pm - Music ends + walk out
3pm - Departures

This event will be held on stolen Palawa land. We acknowledge and pay our respects to the many generations of staunch warriors and activists whom have been fighting for Country since colonisation began. Sovereignty was never ceded.
