Come and join the Wilderness Society East Group for a screening of the Franklin film and a short discussion this November in Hawthorn 🌱
The film follows 8th generation Tasmanian and environmentalist Oliver Cassidy as he embarks on a life-changing solo rafting trip down the beautiful yet remote Franklin River. His goal is to retrace his late father’s 14-day expedition to attend the blockade that saved the World-Heritage listed national park from being destroyed by a huge hydroelectric dam project in the early 1980s.
The discussion will focus on the challenges currently facing Victoria's tall forests. Come along to meet your local Wilderness Society East community group, and learn how you can ensure your Hawthorn candidates know how much your community cares about these forests!
