Why are we doing this? Australia’s prosperity and natural environment is under threat. Our farmlands are mined, our oceans are overfished, our rivers are drained, dammed and degraded. 50% of our forests are gone. We’re losing the life that makes our lives possible.

There’s consensus across business, communities and environment protection groups that Australia’s environment laws don’t work.

Wilderness Society has been an integral part of forming the Places You Love alliance which has now become Australia’s largest environment alliance ever. The alliance supported the Australian Panel of Expert Environmental Lawyers (APEEL) that spent 3 years developing a solid, well-thought out and detailed solution to the problem (http://apeel.org.au/).

So we’ve begun our most ambitious project ever: Nature laws that work. A campaign to replace Australia's largely toothless environmental rules and regulators with a consistent, commonsense plan. The first step in the plan is to raise awareness around the key failures of the law in media and the community.

If you'd like to learn more about the failure of our current Federal Environmental Laws and the impacts on the Environment, this is an event for you.
