The PM has killed off a deal to pass much-needed nature reforms after intervention by WA Premier Roger Cook. These new nature laws would have introduced a federal environmental watchdog and helped end deforestation and stop extinctions.
This also comes after Cook gutted state environment laws earlier this year to appease the mining industry.
Recent independent polling revealed that 78% of West Australians support stronger national environmental protections, but it's now clear that the government is not operating with the public's best interest in mind.
Join us outside Roger Cook's office next Wed 4 December to remind Premier Cook and the Labor government that they were elected on the promise of fixing Ausralia's environment and climate and that they work for the people, not billionaire mining magnates.
Let's send a loud and clear message to put nature and climate first. Bring your signs, banners and best chants!
See you there!
