ABOUT

Join us on Wednesday 23 May at Beeliar wetlands for a free and family-friendly event, as we come togther to discuss our new environmental laws and how we can ensure nature is thriving for generations to come.

The event will feature a twilight stroll around this beautiful and now protected area, followed by a Q&A session on our new nature laws. You’ll hear from expert speakers including environmental campaigners, scientists, and Traditional Owners, as well as a special opportunity to have your voice heard on matters that are important to you.

WHEN: Wed 23 May, 5.30pm

WHERE: Beeliar Regional Park- Meeting at The Wetlands Centre

Right now, the Australian government is reforming our broken nature laws.

But these draft laws are riddled with loopholes and won’t actually stop climate change, deforestation, and species extinctions.

WA is currently the only state where emissions are rising, while Australia is the world leader for mammal extinctions. We need to ensure strong new laws for nature now more than ever!

The government has an urgent, once-in-a-generation opportunity to step up and pass laws that will protect nature for good.

That means:

  • Stopping deforestation
  • Ending the extinction crisis
  • Ruling out polluting new fossil fuel projects; and
  • Ensuring a fair say for communities, not just corporations.

Join us to show Labor that they cannot cave in to industry pressure to weaken our laws and allow them to wreak havoc on our environment.

If you’re passionate about nature and protecting WA’s special places then this is the event for you!
