ABOUT

Right now, the Australian government is reforming our broken nature laws.

But these draft laws are riddled with loopholes and won’t actually stop climate change, deforestation, and species extinctions.

Labor recently annouced the formation of a national EPA but this new entity would at best enforce the existing broken law.

The full suite of promised reforms are still desperately needed to stop deforestation and end Australia’s wildlife extinction crisis, and now hang in the balance.

Join us on 22 May as we gather outside Patrick Gorman's office to demand Labor fix our broken nature laws and ensure a fair say for communities, not just corporations that are hellbent on destroying WA's unique and iconic wildlife.

WHEN: Wed 22 May @ 12.30pm

WHERE: Office of Patrick Gorman MP, Inglewood

The EPBC Act has been shown time and again to be ineffective in protecting forests from deforestation and reversing species extinction, with Australia being a global deforestation hotspot and world leader for mammal extinctions.

We need to ensure strong new laws for nature now more than ever!

The government has an urgent, once-in-a-generation opportunity to step up and pass laws that will protect nature for good.

That means:

  • Stopping deforestation
  • Ending the extinction crisis
  • Ruling out polluting new fossil fuel projects; and
  • Ensuring a fair say for communities, not just corporations.

If you’re passionate about nature and protecting WA’s special places then join us to show Labor that they cannot cave industry pressure to weaken our laws and allow them to wreak havoc on our environment!
