Watch on Nature Onboarding Session

Monday, June 01, 2026 at 06:00 PM

Australia’s forests and bushland are being cleared at alarming rates, often without public scrutiny. Watch on Nature is changing that by putting powerful satellite tools in the hands of everyday people.

This online onboarding session is designed for anyone who is new to Watch on Nature, or who wants a refresher on how to use the platform confidently and effectively.

You will learn how Watch on Nature works, how to check your assigned grid cells, what to look for when identifying potential deforestation, and how your observations help drive real action to protect forests, bushland and wildlife.

No technical background is needed. If you can use a map, you can use Watch on Nature.

What we will cover

  • How Watch on Nature works and why it matters

  • How to check your grid cells step by step

  • What deforestation looks like from satellite imagery

  • How to record and submit observations

  • How your work feeds directly into Wilderness Society campaigns

Event details

  • When: Monday 1 June, 6:00pm AEST

  • Where: Online via Zoom

  • Cost: Free

After you RSVP, you will receive the Zoom link and joining details closer to the session.

This is a great opportunity to get started, ask questions, and become part of a growing community of volunteers helping expose deforestation that would otherwise go unseen.

RSVP now to secure your place and start using Watch on Nature with confidence.

Black Cockatoo Crisis Screening Chermside

Friday, June 12, 2026 at 06:00 PM

Join us on 12 June at 6:30 pm for a free special screening of Black Cockatoo Crisis, a compelling documentary that reveals the urgent threat faced by one of Australia’s most iconic and endangered species.

When: 6:30 pm, Friday, 12 June

Where:Darling Downs Environment Council Eco Hut 1A Heller Street Middle Ridge Toowoomba Qld 4350

Cost: Free!!

Deforestation is destroying critical habitats, including those of the black cockatoo, making it clear that our current environmental laws are failing to protect the ecosystems we all depend on. This screening is part of our campaign to stop deforestation and push for stronger environmental protections that put communities and nature first.

Following the screening, we’ll discuss how we can work together to strengthen Australia’s environmental laws and ensure that communities have a stronger say in environmental decision-making. This is a critical fight, not just for the black cockatoos, but for all species and future generations that rely on the survival of our forests.

We invite you to be part of this important conversation. Tea and coffee will be provided.

RSVP today and take action for our environment!
